Meet Esme, a sweet young dachshund mix girl. This little beauty is a 1 year old, 25 lb low rider with soulful brown eyes and an infectious smile. She is completely housebroken and does not require a crate. She came into Releash with 2 sweet puppies who have since found their forever homes, and now Esme is spayed and ready to find her family. Esme has made it clear to her foster that she is really more of a suburban girl than a city girl. High-rises and a busy nightlife are not for her. Give her a big spacious backyard where she can bounce across the lawn to chase butterflies and balls and she will be in her glory. Outdoors she is a happy dog. Indoors she is an awesome couch snuggler and loves laying across her human for belly rubs and head scratches. She is an avid chewer of nylabones and antlers and her forever home will need a varied assortment of same! She has mastered basic commands of sit, down, and stay. She will walk on a leash but does get easily distracted, so there is still progress to be made there. Fortunately she is very treat motivated! Esme is not a social butterfly type of dog, she prefers to interact with a few balanced close dog friends that she can build a deeper relationship with, keeping in mind that as a dachshund, she is really a people dog more than a “dog’s dog”. She has done well with older children and would probably adore younger kids as well. Cats are an unknown at this time and would require slow introductions to assess her reaction to them. Apply today to meet this little brown eyed bundle of love.
