Barbecue

Meet the 4th of July litter! Approximate date of birth was June 1 and Mom is Liberty, a 12-pound poodle mix. No idea who the Daddy was although their growth suggests something bigger than 12 pounds! Best guess would be a full-grown weight of something between 20 and 40 pounds… although that is definitely a guess!

These puppies can go to their forever homes after they recover from their spay/neuter, which will be done at 8 weeks. At that point they will be eating 4 times a day – every 4 hours – and will not even remotely be potty trained! A general rule of thumb is that a puppy can “hold it” for one hour per month of age, plus one. 8 weeks – about 3 hours. Adopters should expect that this litter will need to go potty every 2-3 hours throughout the day with a longer stretch at night, but should expect to be up at least one a night for bathroom needs!

Due to the high level of care and attention a newborn puppy needs, their foster will be looking for a home where someone is there most of the time, and the puppy will not be left alone for more than 3 hours at a time. Also, due to the nippy nature of new puppies, they may not be a good fit for families with children under the age of 4. Please keep reading for each puppy’s personality and any special needs!

Independence – likes her naps but needs a lot of attention! This gal does NOT like to be alone, or even on the other side of a gate from a person or pet! Her ideal home would have another furry family member, and/or a kid or two that wants to shower her with love.

Patriot – this is the steady “big brother” of the litter, pretty even keel for a puppy, he likes his playtime but is also content to chill by himself

Barbecue – this guy is the explorer! Super affectionate and independent.

Sparkler – this is the party girl; playful and inquisitive, cuddly.

Firecracker – don’t let her size fool you, this little baby is FEISTY! She is the first one to explore any new territory and loves wrestling with her big sisters and brothers! She is a true runt – about 1/3 the size of her littermates – and will likely stay small (5-20 pounds best guess?). Although she has been examined by a vet and is healthy, she has had some differences in her development and we are looking for a puppy-savvy owner for her just to make sure she stays on track!

These guys are so stinkin’ cute and have proven to be very popular! Please bear with her foster as she takes the time to review each app, and please be open to meeting the entire litter… their foster feels that often a puppy chooses their person, or there might be an in-person “love match” with a puppy that was different that the one you may have had in mind, as personality is more important than appearance!
