Alfalfa
The Herbal litter is ready to find their forever homes! These sweet babies were born at their foster's house on September 1 and Mom is Rosemary, a 45-pound boxer mix. These guys have a pretty big range of weights right now - between 6 and 10.5 pounds - and are expected to be 40-70 pounds when fully grown.
This litter has been socialized with (and loves) kids and other dogs, but may not be a good fit for families with children under the age of 4 due to the nippy nature of new puppies.
These puppies can go home at about 8.5 weeks old (after they recover from their spay/neuter) at the end of this month; at that point they will not be even remotely potty trained! They are showing an *awesome* instinct to do their business outside so their foster thinks they are going to be a quick study as far as potty training, but a general rule of thumb is that a puppy can “hold it” for one hour per month of age, plus one. 8 weeks – about 3 hours. Adopters should expect that this litter will need to go potty every 3 hours throughout the day with a longer stretch at night, but should expect to be up at least once a night for bathroom needs!
Due to the high level of care and attention a newborn puppy needs, their foster will be looking for a home where someone is there most of the time, and the puppy will not be left alone for more than 3 hours at a time. A fenced yard or plan for ensuring exercise is also needed; they are going to grow fast!
Alfalfa is a play hard/sleep hard guy; he loves a good wrestling match with his siblings but REALLY loves a good nap.
Adopters interested in any puppy are encouraged to keep an open mind and meet the entire litter… their foster feels that often a puppy chooses their person, or there might be an in-person “love match” with a puppy that was different that the one you may have had in mind.
