Onyx

Have you ever heard of an Aussie/teddy bear/bunny/cotton ball mixed breed? Well neither have we, but we *swear* that’s what a DNA test would show! These are some of the softest (not to mention sweetest and cuddliest) puppies you’ll ever snuggle! These sweet things are estimated to be 8 weeks old and are expected to be 40 to 70 pounds when full grown (yes we know that’s quite a range but this litter has some significant variation).

That beautiful fur will need some maintenance; regular bathing and brushing (at a minimum) will need to be a part of their beauty routine for the floofier ones! Jade and Opal have shorter hair so will be lower maintenance in that regard.
These puppies are doing really well with only pottying outside or on pads (they would prefer not to handle their business on a smooth floor) so although they are making progress, they are definitely not potty trained! A general rule of thumb is that a puppy can “hold it” for one hour per month of age, plus one. 8 weeks – about 3 hours. Adopters should expect that this litter will need to go potty every 2-3 hours throughout the day with a longer stretch at night, but should expect to be up at least one a night for bathroom needs.

Due to the high level of care and attention a newborn puppy needs, their foster will be looking for a home where someone is there most of the time, and the puppy will not be left alone for more than 3 hours at a time.

The ladies rule this group! Onyx is the only male. They are all VERY affectionate and on the higher energy side – they are best suited to a household with other canine or human playmates. All have been socialized with other dogs and kids of all ages, including a toddler! Due to their size and energy needs, they would likely not be a good fit for an apartment unless the adopter has a rigorous exercise plan.

PSA: Rescue puppies have been popular this year! Please bear with her foster as she reviews each app, and please be open to meeting the entire litter… their foster feels that often a puppy chooses their person, or there might be an in-person “love match” with a puppy that was different that the one you may have had in mind. If you would like to give one of these babies a forever home, please apply today!
