Nibbles
Are you looking for a constant companion, little furry BFF type of dog? Then Nibbles might be your gal! Here’s the deal though – this poor, tiny (9 pound) girl was surrendered to the shelter at 10 years of age and it was immediately clear she was not always treated kindly.
She came to us in pain from a dental issue but that has been fully treated and it was such a joy to see her realize she was going to be safe and cared for!
Although she has become absolutely devoted to and loving towards her foster mom, she remains very scared of being picked up. She will happily follow you around the house and yard, solicit petting, belly rubs, and ear scratches, and hop into your lap whenever invited - but she does not wish to be toted under your arm; that is simply not a place where she feels safe.
She is non-reactive (and quite frankly apathetic) towards adult dogs and is likely to feel the same way about cats. She is fine with kids who have the maturity and impulse control to respect her boundaries. She came to us pee pad trained (and will consistently use them) and her foster mom is looking for someone who is comfortable with that, as she’s a bit of a princess when it comes to damp grass or less than ideal temperatures.
We are looking for a household where she can know nothing but love, kindness and compassion during her golden years; she would like a fenced yard or an adopter who is willing to very patiently continue working through her fear of being harnessed.
