Merritt

Merritt is ready to find his forever home & start his new life! He is about 6 years old, approximately 50 pounds, a very handsome boy with a beautiful soft curly coat with no shedding. Merritt came to us matted and very sick with ear infections and heartworms. He is feeling much better now and is the sweetest boy!!

 

Merritt is loving, calm, and the gentlest dog his foster mom has ever seen. He had a tough life before Releash Atlanta rescued him. When you look in his eyes you can feel the thankfulness in his heart at this new chance at life.

 

Human touch is Merritt’s love language! He has not met a stranger, and if you allow it, he will lay in your lap like a baby. He does not jump on people, although if you give him permission, he will give you a hug. He will melt into you if you scratch or rub his head. He has been great with foster siblings, adults, and children. Although he hasn’t been around cats in his foster home, we imagine he would be fine with them.

 

Merritt does great on a leash and does not pull or tug. He follows his foster mom around during the day and loves to be close to her and his siblings. He knows how to sit and will play fetch. He loves treats and is highly motivated by food.

 

He is potty trained, and crate trained. He sleeps in a large crate next to his foster parents or in bed with them. He is a big cuddler and would like to sleep in the bed full time. A home with older kids that he could sleep with and play outside with would be great.

 

Since Merritt is a bigger dog, he can be a bit clumsy so probably a home with kids over 5 years old. Potential adopters will need to brush his coat every few days and professional grooming is required every 6-8 weeks, so he never ever suffers again with painful matting.
